Sorare: One Shot League fantasy football game coming soon

One Shot League, a new fantasy football game based on Sorare’s blockchain, is on its way.

The initiative comes from Pro League and Ubisoft, whose collaboration has resulted in the development of the new game using Sorare‘s blockchain technology.

Pro League is the association of the 24 professional football clubs in Belgium and runs the 1A (Jupiler Pro League) and 1B (Proximus League) leagues. It also organizes the Super Cup.

The Pro League also has a platform on which it combines all initiatives and partnerships focused on innovation, called Pro League Forward. The ambition is to become one of the most innovative football leagues in Europe.

Ubisoft, on the other hand, is a well-known creator, publisher and distributor of entertainment and interactive services, with a portfolio full of world-renowned titles, including Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry®, For Honor®, Just Dance®, Watch Dogs®, and the Tom Clancy series of video games, including Ghost Recon®, Rainbow Six® and The Division®.

Ubisoft has also created a laboratory that analyzes emerging technological, business and social trends in order to identify new opportunities for innovation, called the Strategic Innovation Lab.

One Shot League, Sorare’s new fantasy football game

From this collaboration comes a new fantasy football game in which users collect, buy, sell and manage their own virtual team with digital player trading cards based on Sorare‘s blockchain.

One Shot League will be a highly competitive free-to-play fantasy football game in which players will form teams of five in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League. For each day of the league, they will compete against other teams in the community to try and reach the top of the league table.

Each player card can only be used once during the entire league, so One Shot League will require players to use their best tactical skills and intuition to bring home the win.

The key to success will lie in monitoring actual individual performances, which are indexed on the official Jupiler Pro League statistics page.

One Shot League will offer the winners of each day’s game official Sorare limited edition trading cards, which can also be used within the game.

The game will be based on the 2020-2021 Jupiler Pro League schedule, and the beta version is already available for free online and on mobile devices for the next round of the league, which is on Friday, March 5th, 2021.

Pro League CEO Pierre François said:

“Innovation is an integral part of our DNA, which is why we are always looking for new experiences that allows our fans to live their passion to the fullest. We notably launched

the Pro League Forward initiative earlier this year, bringing together the best tech companies to find new innovative ways to share the passion of football with our fans. We were the first football league to embrace Sorare’s technology in 2018 and we are now extremely excited about adding Ubisoft to the party”.

Ubisoft’s Blockchain Initiative director Nicolas Pouard added:

“With One Shot League , we’re showing how blockchain gives players more opportunities to play with their digital card collection,. Blockchain allows players to play with the same card in both fantasy football worlds today, but tomorrow it could allow them to enjoy it in a wide variety of games and environments, with different uses or rules – as a card, or as any sort of item”.
