Dan Peña: I don’t accept Bitcoin

Dan Peña is back to tweeting about Bitcoin. And he did so with a series of posts in which he notes that there is some sort of race to get on the bandwagon. A race in which he has no intention of participating.

In this tweet, for example, the American entrepreneur reiterates what he had already said at the end of 2020, namely that Paypal would enable the buying and selling of cryptocurrencies. Now that Visa too seems inclined to launch a similar service, it seems a race must be on, but as he says addressing alleged “meatheads”:

“NEVER UNDER ESTIMATE HOW WRONG U CAN BE – BTW: I STILL DON’T ACCEPT IT”.

This tweet is followed by another:

In this post, he seems to suggest that wonderboy Elon Musk with Tesla’s bitcoin purchase of $1.5 billion has given some sort of blessing to BTC. But he goes on to argue that he is not underestimating the possible mistakes

In another tweet, he refers to BNY Mellon bank and Mastercard, who are ready to embrace Bitcoin and reiterates:

“I TOLD U 2 ENJOY THE RIDE KIDS – APPARENTLY THE RACE IS ON! HOW HI CAN IT GO?”

Dan Peña and the truth about Bitcoin

It is unclear what he means by these tweets. Certainly, he is aware that Bitcoin can go up and by a lot. But Dan Peña has also remained famous for prophesying that Bitcoin would soon reach zero.

Indeed since these tweets have been circulating, tweets that he has repeatedly reposted, old videos of him are surfacing on the net in which he said that he knew who was behind Bitcoin and that when the truth would come out, Bitcoin would go to zero.

For example, in a video dated January 3rd, 2018 he said that Bitcoin was a Russian conspiracy and that the Russians could overthrow the financial market in this way.

To this day, it is still unclear who Satoshi Nakamoto is, although the Russian trail does not yet seem to have been pursued. And it is also true that Bitcoin has not gone to zero, but rather is travelling to new all-time highs.
