Coinbase is expanding: a poll to identify the countries

The CEO of Coinbase, Brian Armstrong, has started a Twitter poll to gather ideas on what the next new target country for Coinbase will be

Specifically, Coinbase’s expansion wants to involve countries that are already technologically advanced. Not only that, the search on the social network seems to be aimed precisely at new contacts that can speed up the licensing bureaucracy. Here is the tweet:

“1/ What country should Coinbase expand to next?

2/ We want to work with tech-forward countries who are pro-crypto and can move fast

3/ Things that would help: connect us with key decision makers, countries who can help us fast track a license and bank partnership, and help us get crypto into the hands of their citizens through advocacy and marketing

4/ Excited to hear ideas! Please contact us here.”

In fact, the document to be filled out in order to submit ideas also asks for the qualifications of the contact and whether and how the contact can help with regulatory licensing and/or partnerships with banks.

Expanding Coinbase’s presence in more countries

Rather than gathering ideas on new Coinbase destinations, as per the first tweet, the poll really seems to be a call for partnerships. In any case, Coinbase seems ready to expand geographically into new territories.

At the moment, Coinbase is present in over 100 countries, spread across five continents. Specifically, the US platform is used by 18 states in North America and only 8 in South America

The largest number, however, is in Europe, with 40 countries hosting the crypto platform, compared to 20 Asian countries. While, in Africa, Coinbase is present in 18 states as opposed to only New Zealand in Oceania

Last month, Coinbase made headlines about its likely participation in purchases on behalf of Tesla. Although the news is not official, the association with Elon Musk’s company could entice new countries to get more involved in the crypto world, through Coinbase itself.

Not only that, but recently, the infamous Musk seems to have asked Coinbase to add his beloved Dogecoin to its list of crypto offerings.
