Cardano SPO Column: kBlocks (BLOCK)

We have started a new segment on The Cryptonomist, the Cardano SPO Column. This initiative will be a point of reference for everything Cardano and every week or two we will invite a Stake Pool Operator (SPO) to answer some questions and give us an update directly from within the Cardano community.

Considering that many of our readers are new to the crypto space, we will have a mix of simple and technical questions.

This week we will ask some questions to Shweta Chauhan, the first female SPO and co-founder of the Lovelace Academy. Her stake pool is kBlocks (ticker: BLOCK).

Hi Shweta, thank you for being part of this column.  Tell us a bit about yourself, what has led you to choose Cardano and become an SPO?

Thank you for this opportunity 🙂 I am an IT professional who started her career with Accenture. While working at Accenture, I heard about Cardano from my colleagues and when I researched about it, I fell in love with the vision and mission of Cardano.

As an IT professional I wanted to be a part of this amazing project so I decided to set-up my pool, kBlocks.

How would you describe the role of SPOs?

To ensure reliable and 24/7 operation of the Cardano node. As stake pool operators, we have this responsibility not only to our delegators but also to the health of the network.

Congratulations on making the Forbes list of 30 Inspirational Women. On that note, what words of encouragement do you have for women starting out in the crypto and blockchain sector?

To reach out for help and don’t be afraid to ask questions. Everyone starts somewhere.

We have an education platform, Lovelace Academy. Here we teach newcomers what Cardano is and how to code on the Cardano blockchain.

Check that out if you are interested to learn more about Cardano:

Is there something you are most looking forward to in the Cardano ecosystem?

Yes, so many things 🙂 But to start with, really looking forward to the launch of Goguen which would allow the creation of Smart Contracts on Cardano. This will be a step towards the mission of Cardano – A fair world to all.

Thank you for your contribution Shweta. Do you have any closing remarks?

If you are a woman and reading this, please feel free to join our Telegram group.
