European government institution officially enters crypto trading with MultiversX (Elrond)

Important crypto news in the last few hours for the European government institution, which has officially launched the trading platform for digital assets on MultiversX (Elrond).

Romania launches ICI D|SERVICES and joins the MultiversX network

Romania-based National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics, ICI Bucharest, recently announced the launch of ICI D|SERVICES (ICI Decentralized Services), Europe’s first institutional NFT trading platform for digital assets. 

Operating on the basis of blockchain and Web3 technologies, the platform will initially offer, in a very secure and reliable way, the management of NFTs.

As anticipated, this is an important step as it represents the first government initiative to join the ecosystem of innovative applications built on the MultiversX blockchain network.

The platform will be officially launched on 26 April 2023 at the Palace of Parliament in Bucharest, Romania, at the Critical Infrastructure Protection Forum, CIP Forum 2023, an international event focused on cybersecurity and critical infrastructure protection. 

The launch of ICI D|SERVICES is a no small development for Romania, as it highlights the country’s commitment to digital innovation and technological advancement in new and emerging decentralized blockchain and Web3 ecosystems.

In any case, the ICI D|SERVICES platform will operate similarly to an existing NFT marketplace, serving public and institutional purposes and operating within compliant, transparent, and superior security frameworks.

Not only that, apparently several institutional NFT collections have already expressed their intention to be published on ICI D|SERVICES soon after the launch, including the digital collectibles of the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee, the Central University Library “Carol I” and the Romanian swimming world champion, David Popovici.

Specifically, David Popovici announced the release of his first NFT named “ICONS of the Generational Circle.” Specifically, this non-fungible token represents the first release of a collection that aims to honor icons of Olympic sports. 

All NFT collections presented on ICI D|SERVICES

Three of the many NFT collections to be featured on ICI D|SERVICES, in addition to Popovici’s, we also find the NFT collection “Memories of Future Self,” which represents award-winning AGERPRES archive photographs of Romanian heritage and a view of rare moments immortalized in history.

Then, there is the Romanian national stamp company, Romfilatelia, which presents a unique NFT collection of digital stamps, entitled “A World in a Stamp.” The collection includes stamps that have been turned into NFTs with a focus on astronomical phenomena, famous Romanian actors, the real history of Romania, and many others.

Next, we have the “Carol I” Central University Library. “Our AI Story – Central University Library Reimagined” is a unique NFT collection of AI-generated artworks that capture different aspects of the library, highlighting its rich history, cultural significance and its role as a gateway to knowledge.

Also, the National Institute for Research and Development in Information Technology, ICI Bucharest. The NFT Collection “Past | Present | Future” represents the Institute’s tribute to Research and Innovation for over half a century of activity, combining scientific discoveries and Web3 technological advances, with creative and artistic expression.

In the next phases, the ICI D|SERVICES platform will also be able to provide trading and management of digital assets as well as tokenized items owned, generated and exchanged by advanced institutional ecosystems. 

Specifically, this will be in areas such as education, intellectual property, insurance, real estate records, property titles, certificates of authenticity, energy certificates, supply and distribution chains, art, fundraising, and many other assets suitable for digitization. 

In this context, the platform’s highly secure and decentralized underlying blockchain network (MultiversX) provides superior protection against cyber threats, ensuring a safe and efficient trading experience for digital assets.

Beyond crypto: Elrond and the focus on the metaverse 

A few months ago, Elrond, the blockchain technology developer, announced that it intended to renew itself with a new brand focused on the metaverse. Thus, the company took the new name MultiversX and introduced three new metaverse-oriented products. 

Specifically, we are talking about xFabric, xPortal, and xWorlds, the three new tools behind the rebrand, all of which aim to help metaverse creators and users. 

The tools include support for digital assets, a portal for the metaverse, utilities for creators, and even an implementable blockchain module. 

It should be emphasized that this choice of Elrond in favor of the metaverse comes not by chance. As we know, thanks in part to the development of AI, many other brands, networks, and even individuals are shifting their focus in the same direction.

Hence, despite recent reports of low membership in the metaverse, companies continue to invest in it, a factor that bodes well. 

Indeed, even giants Meta and Microsoft recently brought Office 365 apps into the metaverse, and a Norwegian tax agency opened an office in Decentraland to reach the younger generation.

In addition, a Q3 report published by DappRadar revealed that blockchain games and projects on the metaverse raised a total of $1.3 billion in venture capital investment in the period between July and September. 

In addition, again according to the report, metaverse infrastructure projects formed more than 36% of investments that quarter. Finally, developers in the Web3 space also improved their metaverse offerings by introducing new technologies to create better digital environments for users.
