El Salvador: Bitfinex participates in the second anniversary of Bitcoin Day

It was 7 September 2021 when El Salvador christened bitcoin as the country’s legal currency, and every year the anniversary of what has become known as ‘Bitcoin Day’ could not be missed.

This year, however, for the second anniversary of “Bitcoin Day”, the participants and organisers of the event include crypto exchange Bitfinex. Here is the announcement and invitation on X:

Bitfinex is so committed to the cause in El Salvador that last July it donated up to 36 BTC and 600,000 USDt to small businesses in the city, where street gangs are accused of extorting money.

The funds were distributed in collaboration with Max Keiser and Stacy Herbert, content creators and early adopters of BTC who both live in El Salvador.

Paolo Ardoino, CTO of Bitfinex, said that the funding was intended to demonstrate the potential of bitcoin to bring prosperity and economic freedom in real time.

El Salvador: Bitcoin education to reach every public school in 2024

Among the latest news concerning El Salvador, Bitcoin education is not to be missed. In fact, news recently leaked that the Country plans to reach every public school by 2024.

Basically, the NGO Mi Primer Bitcoin, responsible for the “My First Bitcoin”  initiative, has signed an agreement with the Ministry of Education to teach 150 public school teachers about bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.

Once the teachers have learned the basics of BTC, its benefits and risks, they will be able to teach it to their students in El Salvador.

The goal is for students to graduate from high school with a wealth of information about Bitcoin, its underlying technology, and digital finance and economics.

In August, bitcoin enthusiasts in El Salvador began teaching 12-year-olds how to send satoshi, or ‘sat’, fractions of bitcoin.

In fact, more than 25,000 students in the country have had the opportunity to learn about bitcoin directly in the classroom.

The first official resident of Bitcoin City is a North American bitcoiner: Corbin Keegan

Also in El Salvador is the Bitcoin City project, namely the construction of a city to become a base for bitcoiners, including foreigners.

And indeed, Corbin Keegan, an American bitcoiner who moved to one of the beaches of Conchagua, in La Unión, El Salvador, has become Bitcoin City’s first international resident

According to reports, Keegan said that he wanted to adapt early to the implementation of the queen of crypto, and that his curiosity led him to want to see the evolution of the city’s development project. Here are his words:

I believe this place will become the best city on planet Earth, and it will be better than some can imagine. I am the first bitcoiner to arrive here, but I know there are many in El Zonte beach, and I came here because of all the places I have seen in El Salvador, this was my favourite and it is the most perfect place for what is to come.”
