21 Futures: the first collection of fantasy stories related to Bitcoin coming out in December

In December, the book “21 Futures: Tales From The Timechain” will be released, which represents an anthology of fantasy stories in which various contemporary authors imagine a future in which Bitcoin plays a fundamental role, economically and socially, within civilization.

The book, produced by the publishing house Konsensus Network, is not just a simple collection of crypto-themed stories, but it presents itself as a true manifesto of decentralized technology, aiming to offer a different vision of the concept of financial freedom.

The underlying philosophy of Bitcoin is combined with fantasy storytelling to bring to life the first attempt to narrate the world of virtual money through the magic of literature.

21 Futures is not just a technical book for experts or blockchain enthusiasts, but it is also suitable for a more general audience, as long as they set aside prejudices and eliminate any barriers to human imagination.

The anthology of fantasy stories themed around Bitcoin “21 Futures: Tales From The Timechain”

On December 21, 2023, the publishing house Konsensus Network will release a book, titled “21 Futures: Tales From The Timechain“, which deals with a collection of fantasy mini-stories themed around Bitcoin.

In the book, various authors, including editors Philip Charter and Niko Laamanen, envision a future in which Bitcoin and its decentralized network have gained ground within society, in different ways and contexts.

Anyway, 21 Futures does not refer to simple personal perspectives on the future of cryptocurrency, so much so that Konsensus Network reiterated during the presentation at Coindesk that:

“These are not, mind you, your grandfather’s stories of tomorrow”

The anthology uses the art of storytelling and imagination to tell stories that are pleasantly engaging and intellectually stimulating, each of them grappling with the enticing question “What if?”.

Technical details and complex elements of Bitcoin’s nature are not addressed, and in fact, the narrative often only superficially intersects with the background of the decentralized currency.

The book therefore aims to encourage the reader to delve deeper into the technological aspect at a later time, starting from the goal of making it all much more interesting thanks to the combination with the fantasy genre.

The ultimate goal always remains to push for widespread adoption of Bitcoin, but at the same time, a more artistic approach is sought to make everything much more appealing, especially for those who are not experts in this field.

The collection of fantasy works represents in itself the first serious effort by a concentration of artists to outline a vision of financial freedom through the narration of a real and constantly evolving technological underlying.

In a historical period in which cryptocurrencies are subject to ridicule in front of the mass media, 21 Futures intends to elevate the philosophy of the Bitcoin Standard to the imagination of a future in which the name of “Satoshi Nakamoto” represents a true cult, comparable to that of the Gods in ancient times.

As a literary enterprise, in short, that represents something significant in this world, without needing to diminish it, in addition to being a collection of science fiction short films, 21 Futures is therefore also simply the best type of manifesto for Bitcoin.

In the meantime that the book is physically and virtually released in all the stores around the world, you can enjoy this initial presentation led by the editor-in-chief Philip Charter and the founder of the publishing house Konsensus Network, Niko Laamanen.

An alternative way to spread the worship of Bitcoin

As crypto and Bitcoin become increasingly complex as the underlying blockchain technology evolves, attempts to push adoption towards this world are also becoming more innovative and engaging.

The book 21 Futures is the most glaring example of how fantasy literature can somehow encourage the reader to learn more about the subject, without exploring technical details or making allusions to speculation.

Often, proponents of pro-crypto associations or Bitcoin maximalists try to convince the crowd to fall in love with the virtues of cryptocurrency, sometimes even arrogantly, citing purely philosophical aspects or extolling the fight against the so-called “powers that be”.

Unfortunately, however, many of these subjects forget that the non-conformist and anarchic gift, which we can read in the Bitcoin Whitepaper, is not innate in every person.
Nowadays, the average person prefers entertainment over the economic and financial lesson of the moment, and therefore what is a better tool to launch a veiled arrow against the orange currency than a book.

The art of storytelling, combined with the imagination of the fantasy genre, creates the conditions where every reader can immerse themselves in a story and find an aspect, even unknown, that they are passionate about.

In this regard, the author Charter emphasizes in the introduction of the book that:

“to unite the interest in bitcoin, we need to be better at telling its stories.”

21 Futures therefore represents one of the best manifestos with which, in a completely unconventional way, we try to make the general public passionate about innate Bitcoin themes such as freedom from intermediaries, social trust, public distributed consensus, and the power of the community.

This is obviously a very complex path that aims to intrigue and inspire rather than shape the next minds of the financial landscape of web3.

Who knows if someone, being enchanted by the power of words written on a sheet of paper, can reconstruct their thoughts and beliefs to embrace a set of libertarian ideas typical of decentralized culture.

Then, maybe it’s just a coincidence, but the concept of “freedom” often associated with Bitcoin, fully reflects one of the most iconic phrases ever spoken by Frederick Douglass, a writer and social reformer of the 1800s who was enslaved in his youth:

“Once you have learned to read, you will be free forever.”

If you don’t know what to give to your loved ones for Christmas, now you have also solved this problem. The book 21 Futures with its captivating fantasy stories is available for pre-order now, with a scheduled release date of December 21st.
