Grin hasn’t launched any ICOs and it’s only funded by donations.
One of the means to support the project is the marketplace called TMGOX, The Magic Gathering Online Exchange, alias Gringox.
The name, as you can see, ironically recalls the name of the MTGox exchange.
This marketplace was launched last September with the precise aim of raising funds for the development of Grin. The website sells many products for the community cyberpunk that focus on the project.
Grin was born as a decentralised cryptocurrency, similar to Bitcoin, without ICOs or other organised financial systems. Therefore, it needs donations in order to continue to finance the development of the project.
The marketplace is one way to raise money, mainly by selling hats, t-shirts, shirts, sweaters, stickers and even a wall clock designed to tick in exactly synchronised fashion with the prizes distributed every second by the network to the miners.
In this way, anyone can easily contribute to the development of Grin, obtaining in return products specially created.
Of course, the payments are in cryptocurrencies, and there are also discounts for those who pay with some of them: for example, at the current time, a 33% discount applies to those who pay in Grin, 25% for Monero and Bitcoin, and 20% for Ether.
The catalogue is continuously being expanded with new articles, such as smiley stickers for laptops, or with the latest versions of existing products. The products on sale were designed by the Grin community itself and for this reason, it is also possible to contribute with feedback or ideas, through the transparency page on the TMGOX marketplace website.
