Facebook to hire a blockchain consultant

Facebook wants to hire a blockchain commercial counsel as part of its team.

The announcement was published on the Facebook careers page, dedicated to the recruitment of the social giant and, following a brief description of the general corporate mission, reports all the qualities and characteristics required to fulfil this role.

Specifically, it states:

“Facebook seeks a flexible, diligent, proactive, team player to serve as Lead Commercial Counsel to support its new initiative in the development of blockchain applications. You will be responsible for drafting and negotiating a wide variety of contracts related our blockchain initiatives, including partnerships needed to launch new products and expand such products internationally. You will also advise clients on the various legal risks, business strategies and other issues related to commercial transactions and general operations”.

In essence, the main responsibility that this figure will have to be able to manage relates to operations such as drafting contracts, negotiations and consulting for blockchain initiatives of Facebook, from a commercial, operational, legal and strategic point of view.

As with any job offer advertisement, the minimum requirements for candidates are listed below, which, in addition to the educational component of having a master’s degree and enrollment in at least one US state bar, there is the part dedicated to working experience.

In fact, in addition to similar work experience in commercial positions, Facebook requires in particular:

“Experience with blockchain or payments technology and with the legal issues arising from blockchain applications and/or payments systems. 5+ years of legal experience, including 4+ years of technology transactions experience working at or for technology companies (either in-house and/or at a law firm)”.

And finally, the famous company-appreciated surplus requirements that are essentially based on the interests of the candidate who, in this case, should focus on mobile and alternative payments, emerging payment technology, the payment industry and the e-commerce industry.

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook, had already revealed in an interview conducted by Jonathan Zittrain, professor of law at Harvard, the study of blockchain solutions for Facebook without denying the difficulties still existing for its application. Zuckerberg seems to continue to believe in it and continues to expand the team dedicated to blockchain technology.
