According to Express magazine, the crypto wallet for WhatsApp, Wuabit, is ready for launch.
Wuabit is, in fact, a cryptocurrency wallet accessible through an interface directly integrated into the WhatsApp chat.
The developers define it as a “software agent” with artificial intelligence that allows users to make transactions simply by typing commands into the popular messaging app.
Obviously, the goal is to make it possible for everyone to make payments in cryptocurrencies with ease, considering that in Western countries the presence of WhatsApp on smartphones is extremely widespread.
In fact, a company spokesperson told Express.co.uk that “We are near completing the wallet core service starting with BTC. By using WhatsApp/SMS/Telegram you can access that wallet easily. Crypto payments via WhatsApp can introduce greater numbers of new users who only know how to chat to this complicated space. Usability is key in user adoption and a great enabler”.
The first beta version of the wallet is expected to be released in April.
The system works in a very simple way and was developed specifically to be used by novices in the field. In order to use it, it will be necessary to add a new contact to the address book, and use it as a chatbot by ordering it what to do through simple text messages, such as, for example, “Send 0.05 BTC to Vera”.
The telephone number of the service is indicated on the site wuabit.com: after registering it in the phone book as a new contact called Wuabit you can start a new conversation, for example by asking what is the balance of BTC in your wallet. However, it is not yet known in how many languages the chatbot will be available: it is likely that at first, only the English language will be available.
Transactions would be processed by Wuabit using Lightning Network, making them fast and cheap.
