Ikea and Airbnb gift cards purchasable with bitcoin

Bitrefill has just announced on Twitter that it is now possible to buy Ikea and Airbnb gift cards paying in bitcoin.

Bitcoin for Ikea gift cards

As far as Ikea is concerned, it is possible to buy a 20 or 100 euro gift card on the website, paying with bitcoin, which can then be used in Germany.

In addition to the gift cards for the renowned chain of furniture and accessories stores, German users of the site can also buy gift cards for use on other e-commerce sites such as Amazon, Zalando, Bol.com and MarkirKart. For users from other countries, including Sweden, it is not yet possible to purchase an Ikea gift card.

Bitcoin also for Airbnb gift cards

Whereas for Airbnb it is possible to buy gift cards of 25, 50 or 100 euros on the site, payable in BTC as well, and usable in the US. At the moment Airbnb gift cards are not available for purchase in other countries.

On the site, you can buy gift cards from hundreds of different brands, ranging from Nike and Netflix to eBay and Groupon, usable in different countries.

The country where the most gift cards from different brands have been issued is probably the US, although, for example, there are no Ikea gift cards, while in some countries, such as China, only a small number have been issued.

This allows using bitcoin to make purchases even in stores or sites that do not accept them as a form of payment, such as Amazon, because the value of the gift card is in fiat currency. So, although Bitrefill keeps a commission on the sale, it’s still pretty easy to use bitcoin to make purchases of goods which are only sold in fiat currency.

The site, in addition to BTC, also accepts LTC, ETH, Dash and Dogecoin, and also allows immediate payments through Lightning Network. Apart from the gift cards, it is also possible to buy telephone top-ups.
