After the official announcement of the Facebook currency project, Libra, and the presentation of the Calibra.com website, some people took advantage of it and created a fake domain similar to the original one, calìbra.com.
The site in question faithfully reflects the original but in the homepage at the top right there is a button with the words “Pre-Sale Libra Currency” which redirects to a new page where it is necessary to enter an Ethereum address to receive the coins.
As can be read from the screenshot, it is possible to buy Libra with a 25% bonus. The website is still online, even if, for the time being, there is no evidence that any transaction has been made towards that Ethereum address and, if one does not have tools and plug-ins (MetaMask reports that the website is fake and prevents access) that detect such threats, it is difficult to notice the discrepancy in the domain.
Unfortunately, this is just one example of how hackers are always active and responsive in creating fake products that are extremely similar to the originals, trapping the less experienced.
It is always advisable to carefully check the domain and the official channels to see if there are any ongoing events or promotions or not, always keeping in mind the words “Don’t Trust, Verify” because if something is too good to be true then most likely it is a scam.
