Coronavirus, a Covid-19 positive at the Ethereum conferences

One of the participants of the Ethereum conferences held in Paris and London was found positive for Coronavirus. It is Zhen Yu Yong, founder of the Torus wallet.

Zen (his nickname on Twitter) discovered Covid-19’s positive test result this morning and published the response on his Twitter profile. The choice was necessary to invite those who were with him at the same events to be particularly careful and take the test if necessary.

In the post, Zhen Yu Yong also made it clear that according to his doctor, “It probably came from France,” meaning that he had probably contracted the Virus in France, while it is less likely that he got sick at the Stanford Blockchain Conference or the Denver Ethereum in mid-February. This is because the virus manifests its symptoms within 2-14 days, which coincide with the events in Paris and London.

Zen is currently in Singapore, where he was transported by ambulance to a centre where he was safely tested.

The Coronavirus case at the Ethereum Conferences and the postponed events

The Ethereum Community Conference was held in Paris from March 3rd to 5th, while ETHLondon was held from February 28th to March 1st, 2020.

There were no warnings on the respective official channels inviting the participants to pay attention to their health conditions. Both conferences were held regularly despite the fact the number of people was small, probably due to fear of contagion.

The Coronavirus has seriously affected Italy, but it has also spread to all European nations. In France, the number of contagions has already exceeded one thousand, and among the positives is a Minister of the Macron Government, Franck Riester.

In Great Britain, there are currently around 300 people infected. In both countries the restrictive measures that have been taken in Italy are not in force, where in fact all public and private demonstrations are cancelled, any kind of gathering is forbidden and the inhabitants are confined to their respective municipalities.

In any case, the Coronavirus emergency has already affected the world of blockchain conferences. Blockchain Week Rome, which was supposed to be held in the coming days, has been postponed to July.

In recent days, Hong Kong Blockchain Week has also been cancelled and postponed. Even the NiTRON 2020 (the meeting dedicated to TRON) that was supposed to be held in Seoul in the past few days has been postponed to an unspecified later date.
