In Italy, Crotone diplomas go on the blockchain

The Istituto Superiore Mario Ciliberto – A. Lucifero in Crotone, Italy, is using the blockchain to certify, enhance and notarize high school diplomas on Ethereum.

This was made possible thanks to the collaboration with the Milanese company Blockchain Italia which, in the first week of June, signed a collective agreement with the high school.

Among other things, the signing of this contract, which took place in the first week of June 2020 remotely due to the coronavirus emergency, made use of blockchain technology.

In fact, the transaction was digitally signed with the multisignature function of the Dedit notarization platform. This transaction was recorded on Algorand’s blockchain and is publicly available on app.dedit.io/verification/f607f281b73dd4b3cb53ddf083c38fa8c28e94721a6b93264c388994b3de22ae.

With the notarization on the blockchain, the registrants are transparent and virtually incorruptible, whereas the digital signatures certify the proof of authorship.

Blockchain Italia is a software company specialized in fintech and blockchain solutions, with the mission to optimize business processes through digitization and “disruptive innovations”.

The CEO of Blockchain Italia, Pietro Azzara, commented:

“We are proud to be the technological partner of the Mario Ciliberto – A. Lucifero high school and to have been part of the first case in Italy of remote trade union agreements, which took place through a highly innovative process. We are currently applying the same technology to other remote processes and we are sure that other school executives will be equally far-sighted in the application of public blockchains, both in terms of the notarization of diplomas and educational certificates and the efficiency of remote processes. Moreover, I am convinced that the Public Administration will benefit greatly from the innovation brought by the application of these technologies on a large scale”.

This example shows how an economic negotiation can be conducted, refined and completed remotely, using blockchain as the public space where the final contract is recorded, even when it concerns the public administration.

At a time when remote interactions are preferable to face-to-face interactions, this solution opens the way to a new way of conducting negotiations.

In addition, the recording of diplomas on the Ethereum blockchain makes it possible to have certainty not only of the issuer but also of their content, de facto certifying their authenticity.
