The news concerning IOTA 2.0

Some news concerning IOTA 2.0 and a few new products based on IOTA Ledger were communicated yesterday.

In particular, the objective of launching Coordicide on the mainnet in 2021, as planned, was confirmed, and if this does not happen it should be considered a failure to comply with the roadmap.

In fact, one of the problems of IOTA is the centralization of the so-called Coordinator, i.e. a single special node managed by the IOTA Foundation that can be arbitrarily deactivated by the foundation itself by shutting down the network operation.

The Coordinator is a temporary element that will be eliminated through the so-called Coordicide, after which the IOTA network will become truly decentralized.

Although there is not yet a precise date, the Coordicide is scheduled for 2021.

The official incentivized testnet is also expected to be launched in the first quarter of 2021 to ensure that Coordicide will run smoothly.

Many other novelties have also been revealed, but their development is still in the pipeline, i.e. without a specific release date.

Some of these are expected to be released during the first six months of next year, but it is not known exactly when or which.

In the case of concrete use cases of the token, it is even assumed that it will still be necessary to wait until 2022 or 2023, and this shows that the project has very long development timeframes.

IOTA 2.0 to raise the price of MIOTA

It is therefore no coincidence that, after the August peaks, the price of MIOTA has dropped significantly

The historical maximum of December 2017, 5.25$, still seems very far away, even if the price during 2020 has grown significantly.

The year in fact began at $0.16, with a first increase that brought the value to $0.33 in February.

The collapse of the financial markets in mid-March brought it down to $0.10, but from then on it rose again.

At the beginning of June, it returned above $0.20, and then rose again from the end of July. The peak of 2020 was reached on August 17th at $0.42, which is still less than a tenth of the all-time high of 2017.

Starting from the end of August the price went back down to $0.23 on September 24th, but then it went up a bit to the current $0.28

The current price is still inferior in comparison to the one at the beginning of last year, when it was fluctuating around the 0,35$.
