Bitpanda invests €10 million in Poland

Bitpanda has announced that it will invest €10 million in Poland over the next few years to create a world-class technology and innovation hub.

The Bitpanda Technology & Innovation Hub would be built in Krakow, in the heart of the Malopolska region, and would employ a team of 300 people. This would effectively double Bitpanda‘s current size, as the company currently has 280 full-time employees at its headquarters in Vienna, Austria.

The announcement follows the Series A funding round held earlier this year, during which $52 million was raised thanks in particular to Peter Thiel’s Valar Ventures and other fintech investors including Speedinvest, which was organized to obtain the funds needed to innovate the fintech landscape, offering for example shares and ETFs, and democratizing access to the financial world.

Bitpanda’s Polish hub is expected to develop innovative and exciting projects, and will be led by co-founder and CTO Christian Trummer.

Bitpanda is currently Europe’s largest crypto exchange, with over 1.5 million users, and the company is no stranger to expansion initiatives in the fintech sector.

Bitpanda enters the Poland market

This week the exchange also launched the Polish version, so as to enter this market as well, after entering France, Spain, Turkey and Italy.

Bitpanda co-founder and CEO Eric Demuth said:

“Bitpanda is solving challenges to accelerate the democratisation of investments. To stay ahead of the curve, we need to make sure we employ the best talent in all areas of our operations while we’ve set our mind on building opportunities for real product innovation across Europe. Placing Bitpanda’s first Technology & Innovation Hub in Krakow, with its globally-renowned developers, an exciting local tech scene and geographical proximity to Vienna, was a pretty clear choice for us. It’s the best asset to attracting the right talent who can help Bitpanda pursue innovation of the highest standard”.

Bitpanda co-founder and CTO Christian Trummer said:

“While staying true to our goal of tearing down financial barriers, innovating with speed in a more nimble and proactive manner is just as critical as looking at Bitpanda’s assets through a different and forward-looking lens as the company gains momentum. I’m confident that we will be able to attract the most skilled professionals from the whole region, running from Backend Developers, Software, Machine Learning and QA Engineers to Product Owners and Scrum Masters”.
