Bitcoin: 117% performance in 90 days, but many crypto outperform it

Over the past 90 days, the price performance of many cryptocurrencies has outperformed that of bitcoin.

Looking at the last 90 days alone, it is clear that out of the top 50 cryptocurrencies, bitcoin’s performance is not among the best

In fact, bitcoin has recorded a respectable +117%, whereas some have even done ten times better.

Among them, Pundi X (NPXS) was the best with +4.215%, followed by PancakeSwap (CAKE) with +3.074%, and Terra (LUNA) with +2.994%.

Other cryptocurrencies that outperformed bitcoin more than tenfold were Chiliz (CHZ) with +1.932%, Enjin Coin (ENJ) with +1.825%, and Solana (SOL) with +1.218%.

Others that recorded more than 1000% were BitTorrent (BTT) with 1,177% and Dogecoin (DOGE) with 1,147%.

Among the top 10 by market capitalization, there are Theta with +750%, Binance Coin (BNB) with +692%, Uniswap (UNI) with +683% and Cardano (ADA) with +618%.

Therefore, over the course of 2021, bitcoin’s price performance paradoxically turns out to be one of the lowest among the top 50 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization.

The worst was Celsius (CEL) with only +5%, while worse than bitcoin are also Bitcoin SV (BSV), Monero (XMR), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Litecoin (LTC), EOS, LEO, NEM (XEM), DASH, Zilliqa (ZIL) and Tezos (XTZ).

However, it is worth mentioning that the current bullrun did not start 90 days ago, but in October 2020, i.e. about 150 days ago, which means that since then, when BTC was worth about $10,000, bitcoin’s performance has been 460%.

Bitcoin performance vs other crypto: some details

Despite this, the best performances remain those of NPXS, CAKE and LUNA.

One interesting thing that emerges from the analysis of this data is that the cryptocurrencies whose performance has been lower in recent months are those with greater historical precedence, starting for example with Litecoin and Monero, two of the most historical cryptocurrencies alongside Bitcoin. Ethereum (ETH) and XRP have also performed similarly to bitcoin, while the ones that have grown the most include more or less recent innovations such as CAKE and CHZ.

For cryptocurrencies that have not yet experienced a real speculative bubble, it may be easier to experience one now. However, the best cryptocurrencies also include those that already existed in 2017, such as BNB and ADA, and others linked to projects with years behind them, such as ENJ and BTT.
