Despite bitcoin’s price swings over $33,000-$35,000 in recent days, today The Pavilions Hotels & Resorts becomes the world’s first international hotel group to accept BTC and crypto for bookings.
And indeed, the tourism industry seems to be entering its new era as well, deciding to accept secure online payments, not just in fiat, but in cryptocurrencies.
This first step of the important hotel group has been made possible thanks to a partnership with Coindirect that will allow The Pavilions Hotels & Resorts with its luxury hotels around the world to accept BTC, ETH and 40 other cryptocurrencies on bookings.
In this regard, Gordon Oldham, founder and owner of The Pavilions Hotels & Resorts, said:
“Personalised experiences are at the core of our DNA, allowing this flexibility in payments combined with security and peace of mind for our guests is the next step in personalised and bespoke services. We are proud to lead the industry and enhance ourselves in the digital world with this exciting new crypto payment method available at all of our unique and distinct Hotels and Resorts across the globe.”
Not only hotel rooms, but Pavilions Residences, which are available for sale at resorts in Phuket (Thailand) and Niseko (Japan), will also accept crypto for property sales.
The report also confirms that BTC payments and crypto assets are available for direct bookings as early as 7 July 2021, but will soon be made available on website booking engines as well.
Bitcoin today in tourism thanks to a partnership with Coindirect
Thanks to a partnership with the London-based crypto payments platform dedicated to business Coindirect, Bitcoin today has officially entered the world of tourism internationally.
Speaking about this, Jesse Hemson-Struthers, CEO and co-founder of Coindirect, said:
“We pride ourselves on providing partners a platform for instant secure payments with over 40 Cryptocurrencies; this was a critical factor for The Pavilions Hotels & Resorts to ensure the end-to-end payment service is safe, flexible and easy for guests, when booking their next experience at any of The Pavilions Hotels & Resorts’ across the globe. Guests can take advantage of paying in the Cryptocurrency of their choice, based on the currency and location they are situated in at the time of booking, offering more freedom and a contemporary, personalised service”.
Certainly, this new partnership and choice on the part of The Pavilions Hotels & Resorts, supersedes the news regarding the online booking giant in the same sector: Booking.
While the international hotel group has explicitly and directly communicated this news, excited to enter and lead the entire industry in the world of bitcoin and crypto payments, Booking, on the other hand, prefers to stay behind the scenes.
Just last week, in fact, it was the Maps.Me application that announced the integration of Booking.com to offer cashback on accommodation bookings, directly into its digital wallet and MAPS token.
