Worldcoin: ChatGPT co-founder’s crypto project announces collaboration with Auth0 to manage World ID logins in Europe

Worldcoin, a crypto-themed project led by ChatGPT co-founder Sam Altman, has announced that it is collaborating with digital identity provider Auth0 to effectively manage logins on the World ID platform.

“log in with Worldcoin” will be available soon in Berlin, with the goal of expanding the verification solution via proof of personhood (PoP) worldwide.

Below are the details in the news.

Worldcoin: What is it and how does ChatGPT co-founder’s crypto project work?

Recently Sam Altman, co-founder of the AI bot ChatGPT, ventured into the world of crypto entrepreneurship with his new project Worldcoin, which aims to create a global, financial identity for citizens around the world.

Worldcoin represents an open-source protocol supported by a community of developers, economists, and software and hardware engineers that intends to build a network of collective ownership for all the people of the world, providing equal access regardless of class and economic status.

In detail, the crypto project intends to use an iris scanning device (World ID) to validate access to certain Web2 platforms and facilitate collective participation in the world economy.

This access mechanism also makes it possible to solve one of the biggest problems plaguing the world of social and some web3 applications, namely the massive presence of bots impersonating real users, creating not insignificant damage and inconvenience.

Worldcoin is also actively supporting the development of Optimism Collective, an initiative that aims to scale Ethereum by reducing transaction costs, demonstrating commitment and dedication to the major trade-offs of the web3 world.

Worldcoin and its founder Sam Altman, who is also engaged in the development of ChatGPT with his company OpenAI, plan to release a crypto (WLD) that will serve as a governance and utility token in a fair and distributed manner throughout the world.

The Worldcoin ecosystem, in addition to the soon-to-be-created cryptocurrency and the World ID access technology, consists of the WorldApp payments network.

The latter, through a user-friendly interface and its advanced features, promotes financial inclusion by facilitating monetary transactions in cryptocurrencies.

The platform has been wildly successful already in its early stages, recording 1.5 million logins in the pre-release version.

“Sign in with Worldcoin”: the functionality of ChatGPT co-founder’s crypto project will be integrated with auth0 systems

The ChatGPT co-founder’s crypto project announced the launch of the “Sign in with Worldcoin” feature in Berlin, supported by the World ID biometric scanning system.

The decentralized protocol focused on privacy and social inclusion will also be integrated with the Auth0 marketplace, which is the world’s largest provider of digital identity solutions.

This collaboration ensures that Sam Altman can scale his goal more rapidly, bringing benefits to tens of thousands of apps and web2 services used by millions of people.

In detail, the “Sign in with Worldcoin” feature will allow people to verify their digital identity while maintaining a high degree of privacy through the use of zero-knowledge cryptographic proofs, which are also used in popular layer 2 zks such as ZkSync, Starknet and Polygon ZkEVM.

These kinds of proofs, powered by blockchain technology, allow exclusion of access to the huge amount of bots, but without violating the privacy of verified users who do not need to reveal their personal information.

Users can thus be safe from the risk of their data being shared with third-party services without their consent, and at the same time web2 platforms can verify that all users registered with World ID are real people.

Organizations wishing to integrate this functionality can simply register the app on Worldcoin’s developer portal by receiving two values: a client ID and a secret client.

Subsequently entering this data within the Auth0 dashboard will result in a redirect to the source URL with all the values set.

This integration represents a milestone in the development of the organization, which intends to distribute equitable access possibilities around the world.

Auth0’s services represent an alternative way by which Worldcoin developers can create financial solutions suitable for a wide range of individuals.

The problem of bot traffic

The new innovations introduced by Worldcoin, a crypto project of ChatGPT co-founder and digital identity protocol World ID, represent a weapon against the spread of bots within virtual environments.

In the world of social media, the spread of fake accounts creates very substantial damage, which until now has never been remedied.

Digital advertising fraud, caused primarily by bot traffic, is expected to reach $100 billion worldwide by 2023, a truly staggering figure.

The issue also plagues Web3 platforms, especially in contexts where users are rewarded for cryptographic work done ( e.g., in airdrops).

Indeed, it happens very frequently that a single individual creates a multitude of different addresses in order to multiply the reward to which he or she would be entitled, damaging the entire social community and the economics of crypto projects.

The phenomenon, known by the term “sybil attack,” has been detected on more than one occasion but has never been able to eliminate it completely, except with the solution of KYC verification, which is nevertheless detrimental to people’s privacy.

With World ID verification and the application of the new zero-knowledge cryptographic proof systems, the presence of bots and sybil attacks can easily be brought down without affecting the privacy of users, who do not have to reveal certain personal information.

Each time the Worldcoin function is accessed, a zk proof is generated that attests to an individual’s proof of personality. The latter changes each time the account in question changes access device, preventing it from being traced back to the same user.

The innovation represents a real turning point for the future of online social interaction, which will see its appearance and connotations change with a view to greater transparency and privacy.
