Bitcoin.com has announced the acquisition of blockchain startup O3 Labs, Tokyo-based software development company specialising in creating gateways to the digital economy.
The agreement provides that O3 will be fully absorbed by Bitcoin.com, thus forming a single team. The new team will work on creating tools for the Bitcoin Cash network and in particular to build the next generation of Bitcoin.com mobile financial services.
In fact, thanks to new members from O3, Bitcoin.com wants to create new user experiences that are intuitive and easy to understand, both for its products and partners and for the financial services offers of the community.Â
Recently the company expanded its suite of services by launching an anonymous P2P trading platform for BCH, whereas its wallet has been integrated into the HTC Exodus 1 blockchain smartphone.
In addition, Stefan Rust assumed the role of CEO in August, while Roger Ver took on the new role of Executive Chairman.Â
Stefan Rust himself said:Â
“With the O3 team joining Bitcoin.com, we look forward to accelerating services in our mobile applications serving anyone in the world with an internet connection, regardless of nationality, socioeconomic status, or access to traditional finance. This will give users the ability to manage, grow, and spend while doing business with whomever they want, whenever they want, without the need for traditional banks or financial intermediaries.
Our mission is to make money work for everyone, building tools and products that help people access Bitcoin Cash, a global financial system that’s fast, affordable, and available to everyone.
Bitcoin Cash provides open, borderless, permissionless, censorship-resistant, private transactions. These core principles are at the heart of every service and product we offer at Bitcoin.com. We have known its importance for a long time and now the entire crypto industry is beginning to see this as well. We welcome the O3 Labs team with open arms to join us on this incredible adventure”.
O3 Labs, founded by Apisit Toompakadee and Andrei Terentiev, is known for developing intuitive gateways to access major blockchain networks; it is based in Tokyo, where Bitcoin.com has a major office.Â
Tools developed by O3 Labs include desktop and mobile wallets that allow users to purchase cryptocurrencies directly, as well as a platform for connecting to decentralised apps.Â
