Kristof De Spiegeleer was featured in the latest episode of Ep. 26 of the Blockspeak podcast.
“Today’s IT solutions are like Pain Killers. When we started about 10 years ago, it was all about that – How can we make IT like a real commodity? And the blockchain thing started happening like 5-6 years ago, and it really became popular. It was like, oh wow! Damn! A new wave of disruption where all together we can now own something. That got us really excited”, said Kristof De Spiegeleer, CEO and Founder of ThreeFold.
The episode centred on the subject Simplifying IT with blockchain, where Kristof talked about ThreeFold and they are changing the IT world with the help of blockchain technology.
The ThreeFold Foundation has built an ecosystem of IT infrastructure that will bring significantly more IT capacity online to match the exponential growth in demand (from IoT, Machine Learning, AI) for computer and storage needs.
Kristof highlighted the necessity for new IT solutions like ThreeFold that go to the root of the problem and solve it. ThreeFold is a combination of conventional IT powered by the blockchain technology that allows everybody to own the internet.
Talking about ThreeFold, Kristof said,
“We re-invented how IT works, we re-invented the operating system’….He also added, ‘We built it and then we put a smart contract layer on top of it. Just like you have smart contracts for finance, we made the smart contract layer on how to deploy an IT solution on top of a hardware”.
Kristof pointed out how his team has re-invented the operating system in a way that uses the hardware of the machine in a very efficient way, without losing its computing power while handling different processes. ThreeFold is a P2P Internet built with the security and reliability of blockchain and the performance of high-end hardware.
A sustainable solution for a green future
“These data centres are huge polluters that use a lot of energy. This is something we can help – so if all of us together built that new internet by putting our hardware capacity, we have an alternative way how the technical people amongst ourselves can deploy their applications”.
Kristof’s ThreeFold proposes a green solution that will be much faster, saving 10 times more energy. It will be private and more secure, all loaded in your computer.
