Daniel Trauth: Ford visits IOTA labs

A few hours ago a tweet appeared by Daniel Trauth, Regional Leader of Iota, who wrote about the visit of the Ford team to their laboratory at the RWTH Aachen University.

The German branch of Ford travelled from Cologne to Aachen to the industrial laboratories of IOTA (Industrial IOTA Lab Aachen – IILA) and to the WZL laboratories (Werkzeugmaschinenlabor – Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering), as well as GCX (grandcentrix – company that deals with engineering for digital products, IoT, smart home and smart energy), where they saw practical use cases for applying the IOTA technology.

The IILA laboratories, established in April 2018 as university spin-offs, offer students, teachers and industry representatives the research carried out in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Economy, machine-to-machine communication, Industrial Internet of Things and DLT with IOTA.

These researchers are currently studying how to adopt different solutions that we could see in everyday use in the future, as in the case of the automotive sector and even self-driving cars.

With its Tangle protocol, IOTA is a good candidate for integration in this sector. The protocol, in fact, has also been recently chosen by the car manufacturer Jaguar, which will implement a wallet within their vehicles, and very likely also Ford plans to implement something similar in their vehicles.
