Ultra presents the GameDev Center

Ultra has released a new video in which it presents the Closed Beta version of its GameDev Center.

The blockchain-based game distribution platform has been very active lately, especially after the strategic partnership with AMD to democratize the gaming industry.

The video shows a preview of how the Closed Beta version of the space where developers customize and publish their games within the Ultra platform, the GameDev Center.

In this section, it is possible to create new games, customize non-fungible tokens, and create prizes via the token factory.

This way games can also become collector’s items and allow new monetization strategies for developers and new options for marketing and advertising which were previously not possible on other platforms not based on blockchain.

The idea is to provide game creators with new tools made possible only by the use of blockchain-based features.

These tools have the potential to be revolutionary, particularly in the gaming sector, because they substantially expand development opportunities for creators and gaming opportunities for users.

Ultra is not the only project that is trying to innovate within the gaming industry using cryptocurrencies, tokens and distributed ledgers.

Some time ago, for example, EOS VC, the investment branch of Block.one, announced major investments in this area, although to date no such products have been launched on the market.

Another project that is already a reality is the MintDice platform, which already offers several games, including the traditional one related to the roll of the dice.

In reality, there are already dozens of online games that take advantage of blockchain technology, which is why the specialized website BlockchainGamer.biz has published the list of the 10 most anticipated blockchain games in this 2020.

In alphabetical order, these are:

  • Age of Rust,
  • Blankos Block Party,
  • Crypto Space Commander,
  • CryptoWars,
  • Gods Unchained,
  • Hash Rush,
  • Neon District,
  • The Sandbox.

If 2018 was the year in which the potential of these new technologies in the gaming industry began to be explored, 2019 was the year of the first concrete tests, and 2020 could be the year of the final launch.

There are benefits to using decentralized blockchains that were previously simply impossible to achieve.

First, players can gain permanent, exclusive and inviolable ownership of their assets, typically represented by non-fungible tokens (NFT) like ERC721 tokens.

In addition, it is possible to create decentralized markets for these assets, without the need to entrust the management to a trusted entity.

Other advantages include reducing costs and speeding up financial transactions, trading assets between different video games, and being able to create distributed and transparent open source servers.

Not to mention the fact that the distributed nature of blockchains prevents hackers and cheaters from blocking or interfering with the game, given the absence of a single point of error.

The blockchain gaming sector is still at the beginning, however, the purely experimental phase seems to be over, whereas the pioneering phase of the first concrete projects in this sense is just starting. It is possible that during the course of the year there will be many other interesting new developments in this sector.
