The case of the messages against Craig Wright launched simultaneously from 145 Bitcoin addresses dating back to 2009, now becomes evidence in the lawsuit between Wright and Ira Kleiman.
Recently, in fact, an eloquent message was sent from 145 different Bitcoin wallets:
“Craig Steven Wright is a liar and a fraud. He doesn’t have the keys used to sign this message. The Lightning Network is a significant achievement. However, we need to continue work on improving on-chain capacity. Unfortunately, the solution is not to just change a constant in the code or to allow powerful participants to force out others. We are all Satoshi”.
These are addresses that Craig Wright claimed to have private keys to in the lawsuit that pitted him against the brother of his former (deceased) partner Dave Kleiman.
Ira Kleiman and the lawyers’ argument is that a message saying Craig Wright is a liar and a cheat clearly shows that CSW does not control those addresses.
Hence Kleiman’s defence concludes:
“Said simply, Wright represented these 145 addresses were part of his bitcoin holdings and were locked in an inaccessible encrypted file. This week, the person that actually controls the private keys to those addresses used those private keys to declare that “Craig Steven Wright is a liar and a fraud” and “doesn’t have the keys” for those addresses — thus proving the addresses do not belong to Wright”.
The mystery of the Bitcoin addresses
There’s still the mystery of who signed those messages. BitMEX had shown that of the 145 addresses involved, although dating back to 2009, 143 certainly did not belong to the “dominant miner” that could be Satoshi Nakamoto.
Nevertheless, these wallets hold a fortune in Bitcoin, worth several billion dollars. And apparently, they don’t belong to Craig Wright either, who will now have to find new evidence to prove that he really is the creator of Bitcoin.
