Craig Wright is Satoshi Nakamoto, the testimony

Craig Wright is Satoshi Nakamoto. His wife stated it in court. Which makes this statement not a biased endorsement, but a testimony given before the law. And before the law and the courts, one cannot give false testimony.

The statements were made on March 19th, 2020 as part of the lawsuit between Craig Wright and Ira Kleiman, brother of Wright’s deceased partner, Dave Kleiman.

The deposition was made public only a few days ago. It is almost 400 pages, in which Ramona Watts, wife of the Australian entrepreneur, reveals some background information about the birth of Bitcoin, her husband’s relationship with Dave Kleiman and the Tulip Trust, the fund that contains a fortune in Bitcoin.

Craig Wright created Bitcoin

To a specific question, Ramona Watts answers that her husband created Bitcoin.

Q: Has your husband ever told you that he was the creator of Bitcoin?

A: Yes, before he was my husband, yes.

Q: When did hay say that?

A: Probably late 2010, 2011, shortly after we started going out together.

Q: What did he tell you?

A: “I created” — I think he called it “a digital cash and it’s called Bitcoin”.

The woman denied being aware that her husband created Bitcoin on his own or with the collaboration of someone. But Craig Wright told her another detail: he’d been working on it for 20 years:

“He told me a lot of things. He said it was a very long process, that he has — I think at that time he was working on a Masters or was going to work on a Masters — oh, no, I think or had worked on a Master that had very similar things to Bitcoin and that is where he got all his ideas from; he had been working on it for 20 years. Yes, it was just a long, drawn out process. I think it started when he was in his — I don’t know, 20s even”.

When asked specifically about Satoshi Nakamoto’s name, Mrs. Wright replied that she had never heard that name, nor can she remember when she first heard it.

But she adds:

“I was reading some information online probably and I put two and two together, that if he created Bitcoin and if Satoshi Nakamoto created Bitcoin, then he had to be Satoshi Nakamoto”.

Craig Wright would have confirmed it.

The testimony then gets to the heart of Craig Wright’s relationship with Dave Kleiman. In this regard, Ramona Watts stated that the two were best friends, and that Dave had problems that made him sick and forced him to go to the hospital.

There is also a peculiar passage: the one in which Craig Wright seems to feel sorry for the fact that Bitcoin was used as currency in the black market of the web, to buy drugs or illegal things. That wasn’t the purpose for which it was created, it wasn’t meant as an anonymous currency, his wife said during the trial.

It is not a coincidence that Silk Road was mentioned, where people were buying drugs and receiving money, using Bitcoin. The Tulip Trust was created precisely to combat these abuses and to make Bitcoin a currency with legal purposes, so that the research and experimentation of the currency could go ahead.

The long deposition indicates that after Dave Kleiman’s death it would have emerged that Dave had not deposited his bitcoins in one of the companies set up with Craig Wright to mine Bitcoin. While on the subject of his brother Ira, it is said that he was only interested in money and not the business.

One detail stands out: Ramona Watts says in her testimony that she does not have the private keys to the Tulip Trust. Neither she nor her husband.

The testimony casts a new light on the story of Bitcoin’s creation, although few, including Calvin Ayre, seem to give credibility to the hypothesis that Craig Wright is Satoshi Nakamoto.
