In reality, the fixed one does not really reflect the peculiarity of the word, but it means that it is less volatile than the variable one. The variable rate is calculated on the basis of supply and demand of the asset to be borrowed; it benefits the user when there is less demand on that particular asset.

At the time of writing, DAI is the asset with the highest APR (Annual Percentage Rate), both on deposits (10.46%) and loans (fixed=27.51%, variable=12.34%).
